A passkey lets you sign in with Face ID, Touch ID, your fingerprint or your phone's screen lock instead of typing your password. It's quicker, and it can't be guessed, phished or leaked like a password. Your password keeps working too.

Set it up

  1. Sign in as usual and open Profile (on a phone: More → Profile).
  2. Scroll to Sign-in & security.
  3. Check the name under Name this device (for example My iPhone), so you can tell your passkeys apart later.
  4. Tap Set up Face ID / passkey and follow your phone's prompt (look at the phone, or touch the sensor).

If you haven't typed your password in the last few hours, we ask for it first (Confirm your password). That stops someone who picks up your unlocked phone from adding their own passkey.

Right after you sign in with your password on a phone or computer that can do it, you may see Add a passkey for faster sign-in next time? at the top of the page. Tap Add a passkey to go straight to the section, or Not now and we won't ask again.

iPhone and iPad

  • Needs iOS 16 or later, with Face ID or Touch ID turned on.
  • The passkey is saved in Apple Passwords (iCloud Keychain), so it also works on your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account.

Android

  • Needs Android 9 or later with a screen lock (fingerprint, face or PIN), in Chrome.
  • The passkey is saved in Google Password Manager and syncs to your other Android devices with the same Google account.

Mac and Windows

  • Mac: Safari or Chrome, with Touch ID or your Mac password. It's saved in Apple Passwords.
  • Windows: Windows Hello (face, fingerprint or PIN).
  • A computer without these can still use your phone: choose Use a phone or tablet in the browser's window and scan the QR code with your phone.

Sign in with it

The sign-in page puts passkeys first:

  1. Open the sign-in page.
  2. Tap Sign in with a passkey at the top and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint.

Even quicker: tap the Email field. On iPhone, Android and Mac your saved passkey shows up right above the keyboard (or in the autofill list). Pick it and you're in, no password needed.

No passkey yet, or on someone else's computer? Use the email and password form under Or use your password, as before. Remember me is ticked already, so you stay signed in on your own devices; untick it on a shared computer.

A passkey counts as a strong sign-in on its own. Club staff who use two-factor sign-in don't type a code after signing in with a passkey.

A new phone

  • Same Apple or Google account? Your passkeys usually come across with your other passwords. Just tap Sign in with a passkey on the new phone.
  • Didn't come across? Sign in with your email and password, then set up Face ID again on the new phone. Remove the old phone's passkey if you no longer use it.

Lost your phone?

Sign in on another device with your password and Remove the lost phone's passkey (below). Can't sign in at all? Ask a coach: staff can remove all your passkeys, and you sign in with your password again. Also consider changing your password.

Rename or remove a passkey

Each passkey in Sign-in & security shows when you added it and when it was last used.

  • Rename: tap Rename, type a new name and tap Save.
  • Remove: tap Remove and confirm. We may ask for your password first. That device then needs your password to sign in. Removing it here doesn't delete it from your phone's password list; you can delete it there too.

FAQ

Is my face or fingerprint sent to the club? No. Face ID and fingerprints never leave your phone. The club only stores a public key that can't be used to sign in by itself.

Do I still need my password? Keep it. You need it on devices without your passkey, to add a new passkey, and if you lose your phone.

It says "This browser can't use passkeys". Your browser can't use passkeys (for example an old browser, or the browser inside another app). Open the site in Safari or Chrome, update your browser, or sign in with your password below the message.

"Cancelled, or no passkey for this site on this device". You closed the prompt, or this device has no passkey for your account yet. Sign in with your password and set one up.

"This page timed out. Reload it and try again." The sign-in page was open for a long time. Reload it and tap Sign in with a passkey again.

The keyboard doesn't offer my passkey. Tap Sign in with a passkey instead; some browsers only show passkeys from the button.
