Teen accounts and parent approval

How athletes aged 13 to 17 sign up themselves, and how a parent approves them by email link or QR code.

  3. For parents: approve your teen
  4. What teens can do on their own

Athletes under 18 always belong to a parent or guardian's family. There are two ways a teen gets their own sign-in:

  • The parent gives them a login from the Family page. This is the simplest if the parent already has an account. See Give an athlete their own login.
  • The teen signs up themselves (ages 13 to 17) and a parent approves them. This page explains that route.

Athletes under 13 can't sign up themselves: on the sign-up page they enter their first name and a parent's email, tap Invite my parent, and the parent gets an invitation to sign up and add them.

For teens: sign up

  1. On the sign-in page tap Create an account and choose Athlete.
  2. Enter your date of birth. Because you're under 18, a box appears for your Parent or guardian's email.
  3. Fill in the rest and tap Create account, then verify your email.
  4. You'll see Almost there!: we've emailed your parent a link to approve you.

Until your parent approves you, you can sign in and update your profile, but booking, waivers and programs stay locked.

While you wait

On the Almost there page you can:

  1. Parent is here: show QR code. Your parent scans it with their phone camera, signs in (or creates a parent account) and approves you right there. The QR code works for 30 minutes.
  2. Resend email if the first one got lost.
  3. Send to this email if you typed the wrong address, or want a different parent or guardian to approve you.

The approval link in the email is good for 14 days. We send your parent a reminder along the way. If it runs out, the page says so: just send a new one.

For parents: approve your teen

  1. Open the email (or scan the QR code) and tap the link.
  2. Sign in, or create a parent account if you don't have one yet. You come back to the request automatically (sign up with the email the request was sent to, and you don't need to verify it separately).
  3. Check your teen's name and date of birth. You can correct them here.
  4. Already added this child to your family? Choose Yes, this is …: give them this login, so you don't end up with two copies of them.
  5. Tap Approve (with your teen's name on the button). Not your child? Tap I'm not their parent: decline.

Your teen then appears on your Family page with their own login. While a request is waiting, your Home and Family pages also show it with Accept and Decline.

By approving, you confirm you're the athlete's parent or legal guardian. You can turn your teen's sign-in off at any time from Family. See Give an athlete their own login.

What teens can do on their own

With their own login a teen can see the Calendar, book practices their programs cover, check in and read club news. Buying programs (not at all, asking the parent first, or without asking) and using the family's punch passes depend on what the parent allows under Family → Buying on their own. If a practice would use a visit and the parent said no, the teen sees Ask your parent to book this (or the parent's name). See Buying on their own.
